February 17, 2008: Little Windows: Mark Weems and Julee Glaub

Little Windows: Mark Weems and Julee GlaubNewcomers to Woods Hole, the Little Windows duo, comprised of Mark Weems and Julee Glaub, will perform a mix of traditional Appalachian and Irish songs as well as traditionally based originals. Their focus is on the art of the pure voice. Whether singing unaccompanied ballads or tight vocal harmonies accompanied by guitar, fiddle, banjo, flute, piano and bodhrán, they produce a luscious, heartfelt, and harmonic sound all their own.

Mark was born in Alabama and is steeped in the Old Time music of Appalachia. A native of North Carolina, Julee worked with the poor in Dublin, a key inspiration to her ballad singing. She absorbed all she could from master musicians in Ireland before returning to the States almost seven years later. Besides recording with other groups and on their own, Mark and Julee released their first duo recording, Just Beyond Me, in 2006. As stated by the duo, "for those unaware of the human depth of traditional song, our hope is to open up little windows into this timeless, spiritual, mythical land."
