| January 1, 2012: Inca Son | ||
We welcome back Inca Son, a Peruvian band that specializes in music from the Andes region. Clad in colorful Inca costumes, the band performs traditional and original songs, in their own unique style, on panpipes, flutes, guitars, drums, rattles, and animal horns. Under the leadership of founding member Cesar Villalobos, Inca Son has achieved wide recognition by presenting full-scale stage productions at numerous fairs, festivals, and concerts, and by performing for organizations such as the White House, the United Nations, and the Olympics. The group also provided music for the PBS series "Columbus and the Age of Discovery." In 2003, Inca Son was invited to perform in Peru by President Alejandro Toledo who bestowed Mr. Villalobos with the order of "Merit for Distinguished Service." As part of its unofficial cultural ambassador role, the band also performs at schools and provides workshops and musical training. We look forward to another evening filled to the brim with the reverberating sounds and colors of the Andes right here in Woods Hole.
