The Marine Biological Laboratory provides facilities for research, education and conferences. The MBL has the largest marine science library in the world. The MBL offers lectures and symposia on a wide range of topics, including neurobiology, cell and developmental biology, physiology, microbiology, marine biomedics, molecular evolution and ecosystem studies. The MBL also serves as a performing arts and lecture venue for the greater community.

Ashumet Holly & Wildlife Sanctuary is one of 22 sanctuaries owned and managed by the Mass. Audubon Society. Open daily sunrise to sunset. Admission $3, children and seniors $2. A 49 acre sanctuary of holly, exotic trees and shrubs, rare wildflowers. Bird checklist and self-guiding trail map available at admissions gate.

A non-profit organization that owns and maintains over 210 acres of conservation land in the town of Falmouth. Salt Pond Areas Bird Sanctuaries accepts land donations. The group owns and runs the Marshlands, an observation building for study and classes in West Falmouth. Programs held at The Bourne Farm, an authentic 1775 farmhouse listed on the National Register. Education programs in the summer months only.
