Highfield Hall will present “Love Walked In”, a lecture and recital with piano virtuoso Virginia Eskin, on Thursday, February 12 at 11am. Musical expressions of lust and love will be the theme as Eskin's program explores the connection between heart and mind. With the piano and a provocative narrative she will showcase how women and men compose differently. Composers featured in the program include Liszt, Rachmaninov, Schumann, MacDowell, Beach and Ragtime musician Joe Lamb.

Starts at: 11:00am Cost: $15.00 per person

More Information: Virginia Eskin has performed as a soloist with many orchestras, including the Annapolis, Buffalo, Louisville, New Hampshire, Rochester, San Francisco, Santa Barbara and Utah Symphony Orchestras, the Boston Classical, the Israel Sinfonietta, and the Boston Pops. She has also performed as a soloist with the New York City and Boston Ballet Companies, at the Morgan Library in New York City and Jordan Hall in Boston, and in concert halls and museums throughout the United States and Europe. Eskin's many recordings include works by American composers Amy Beach, Arthur Foote, Rebecca Clark and George Chadwick. With the Hawthorne Quartet she recorded Chamber Music From Theresienstadt (Channel Classics), Music of Samuel Coleridge-Taylor, (Koch) and Silenced Voices (Northeastern). She also recorded Dvorak's Piano Quintet with the Portland String Quartet (Arabesque). In 2008 Koch released her premiere recording of works by Czech composer Vítezslava Kaprálová, which has received wide acclaim. Music at the Mansion is supported in part by a grant from the Cape Cod Five Cents Savings Bank Charitable Foundation. The next concert in the popular chamber music Salon Series will be “La Sue Bella Voce” on Sunday, March 8 at 4pm, and will feature the singer Philip Lima and pianist William Merrill.
